The "thermo edge" is an area on the top of the insulator that small sparks are discharged.
Having a rich air-fuel mixture or driving at low-speed causes carbon to build up and attach to the insulator.
That's where the "thermo edge" discharges small sparks that actually burns off the deposits and keeps the plug clean. |

The ultra-fine center electrode has excellent spark characteristics.
The electric field strength is strong and the overall environment enhances spark formations.
